Umbra Shift’s Above Home Floor Mat, a hand-woven mat with abstract illustrations. Meant to depict either a swimming pool or a suburban backyard seen from great heights. The mat is made from abaca, which is a natural plant fiber that is both odor and moisture resistant, making it an ideal surface for outdoor spaces or in front of a kitchen sink.
This vase is a representation of the iconic bomb found in numerous comic strips and comedies. When a flower is placed in the vase the picture is complete, the fuse is lit. Thus, creating a contrast between urgency and tranquility.
The vases were created in collaboration with Dan Levy Studio in Manhattan. The black matte ‘glaze’ was achieved via numerous trials and eventually the development of a new technique, arriving to the desired matte yet satin finish. Subtle variations of tone and finish within each piece create a vitality that separates Levy's craftsmanship from that of factory mass production. Each vase is fitted with an engraved black anodized aluminum cap, milled on a four-axis CNC machine from billet to fit each vase precisely.

Stool, made from a whole lamb, exposing all the details remaining of the former life of the animal. This is evident from the transition in the wool from the legs to the ‘back’ and the detail on the inner leg dew claw. The mind goes between “the individual” and “the product” as the item captures an in-between stage where both are present.
To achieve the highest quality and finish, the stool is developed with Frank J. Zitz & Company, Inc. Frank J. Ziltz is a renowned taxidermist which clients include museums and private collectors, with a great reputation for correct anatomy and excellent detail. The re-enforced legs are anatomically correct and strong despite looking thin and fragile. The 3D geometry of actual hoofs was recorded in a CAD engineering program and then cast as an accurate interpretation in premium metal.
The triangle is often overlooked and underrated amongst geometric shapes. Being more space efficient than a circle when in an arrangement and with a natural spout for pouring it makes sense for this kind of product. The silicone lid seals nicely and has some basic measurements in it.
What appears to be a random construction is in fact a carefully composed arrangement of dowels that achieve maximum effectiveness for hanging and exceptional strength.
The idea being, to create an object and an experience where the purpose is not so apparent at first sight but is very clear once in context of its use. One should be able to stand several feet away and throw a hat or a scarf on it and it will remain where intended.
The rack is constructed from 19 individual hardwood dowels that are shaped on a five-axis CNC machine, navigated by a 3D cad drawing to fit together in perfect order. After construction, the rack is painted, and then coated with multiple layers of lacquer, much like a grand piano.
Designed as a post modern bathroom sculpture, it does not function as a traditional rubber ducky neither does it look like a real duck. It is an object struggling for context and a reason for being. It is called Harry and it's for sale at some of the most premium museum stores in the US of A. Commissioned by Kontextur.

Effie award statue. The Effie Awards were founded in 1968 by the American Marketing Association, New York Chapter, as an awards program to recognize the most effective advertising efforts in the United States each year.
Since 1968, and particularly in recent years, Effie has become a source of learning through global conferences, judging discussion and access to in depth case studies providing opportunities for insight into effective marketing communications.
We never received one of those despite designing the actual award statue.
